I was able to visit a number of these sites 2005-9 and was able to enjoy these magnificent locomotives which were slowly disintegrating due to being out in the open.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4368258020854525544.post-53022881674744102672019-05-30T11:19:55.580+02:002019-05-30T11:19:55.580+02:00Dt is nie moi om te sien hoe die old steam loco to...Dt is nie moi om te sien hoe die old steam loco tot niet gaan nie...Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00628912494145805902noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4368258020854525544.post-16129627309000502812018-05-16T00:42:39.151+02:002018-05-16T00:42:39.151+02:00not to worry. the world is always changing. diesel...not to worry. the world is always changing. diesels were in , now they in trouble and modern tech fixes more than 80% of a steam trains issues. there is more than 1300 of them in the country. She travelled under her own steam from Voorbaai to Ceres a week ago. Now 19B No. 1412 is in the workshop being prepared for Ceres as well. So at last some of these Voorbaai locos are getting a new lease of life. One day they will realize what could have been done with all these locomotives and just how they could be used to bring tourists to the country. Instead they are left to rot!!! Many other country's have realized that steam brings tourists but SA just never seems to learn until its too late!!! Thank goodness some people in SA have set up private preservation groups and are working very hard to save whatever they can but again the powers that be seem to do all they can to stop them in their tracks!! Good luck to all the preservation groups!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
